Jordan, an Arabic nation on the east bank of the Jordan River, a magical country and a true gem. It’s home to the famed archaeological site of Petra, being called one of the world's 7 ‘New Wonders” in 2007 and was also chosen by the Smithsonian Magazine as one of the “28 Places to See Before You Die”. Dating to around 300 B.C. Set in a narrow valley with tombs, temples and monuments carved into the surrounding pink sandstone cliffs, Petra earns its nickname, the "Rose City."
This is my ode to the amazing journey I went on through this country.
Before leaving for Jordan, many questioned my decision to travel during such "times". I am happy to have returned from an amazing country, and be lucky enough to see the light within not only the people... but the culture. It is a country with so much magic and history, it truly makes me sad to see how people from both countries envision each other.
I believe that the people have lost a sense of togetherness. We have become too domestic - & not focused enough on the global picture. I do hope I am lucky enough to one day travel to many places to visit with the people and capture their culture. I feel I saw great pride in the people of Jordan.
Everyone is created for a reason, they help create their culture, which is unique but exciting to explore.
